An introduction to Asperger’s syndrome, Tourette’s syndrome, dyspraxia and ADHD

This one day course is designed to enable teachers and learning support staff to understand pupils who exhibit tendencies towards Asperger’s Syndrome, Tourette’s Syndrome, Dyspraxia or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.  There are overlaps in diagnosis and students may exhibit predispositions towards one or more of these syndromes. The course enables participants to identify the learning differences for pupils with these conditions, understand the positive and challenging aspects of each learning difference and explore strategies to manage these learners within the classroom.

The sessions are intended to help staff to improve communication and relationships with their learners.

The day is intense and tightly scheduled with opportunity for questions and discussion.

Tutor information and feedback

Tutor:

Zoya is an experienced trainer, public speaker and tutor. During her career she has taught in schools and colleges, including schools for pupils with special educational needs and behavioural units. In addition, Zoya’s teaching and training experience includes work in hospitals and prisons, with MENCAP and with the Steiner community. She has been a Board Member at Bournemouth University and she has also been a trustee and trainer with Parent Link, Bournemouth; an organisation for parents who have children with learning difficulties and complex communication disorders. Zoya specialises in working to empower those with hidden differences: Asperger’s Syndrome, ADHD, Dyspraxia and Tourette’s Syndrome.
