April is Mathematics Awareness Month

From patterns to problem solving, Mathematics is a wonderfully powerful tool which helps children to make sense of the world around them. The skills that children acquire through mathematics are essential to everyday life. Many industries and jobs require employees to have a solid mathematical comprehension so even if a child is not planning on entering a career reliant purely on mathematics, children will need to understand, use and apply maths every day. Through mathematics, children are introduced to skills, concepts and strategic thinking, data handling and logical reasoning. It is therefore crucial that teachers do all that they can to inspire both an interest and positive attitude for the subject, consistently delivering outstanding maths teaching in order to ensure mathematical success for students.

PBM Education Training & Consultancy offer a series of mathematical courses to support teachers, senior & subject leaders, headteachers and governors in Primary and Secondary schools. They look at building teachers subject knowledge and explore the maths mastery curriculum. They look at how to improve standards and attainment, how to plan and assess under the primary maths mastery curriculum, how to teach fractions and how to embed reasoning and problem solving into every lesson.

Coming soon…we have a BRAND NEW Maths Health Check service whereby a consultant spends a day in-school with the maths co-ordinator auditing the current maths provision and then planning and assessing for improvement of the current provision. We also have 2 BRAND NEW SECONDARY COURSES which are aimed at non maths specialists and HLTA’s who have to teach maths at secondary level and who want to improve their subject knowledge and pedagogy. Keep checking back for details and dates.
