The SEF Support Service Helping produce a high quality Self-Evaluation Form Making better use of your time Not every senior manager has the time to check the SEF to ensure its quality. We have available a team of consultants who will read and evaluate your SEF, tell you how good it is, what may be necessary to improve it, and if you wish, produce the finished document for you using information technology. Ensuring quality We check each section and make recommendations about improving quality, clarity, and the fairness and accuracy of judgements. In the process, we help you improve the school’s underlying self-evaluation systems and evidence base. In the standard service, checks are made against the RAISE and the school development plan. In the enhanced service, and enhanced plus service, a consultant works with you to collate the necessary evidence and support you with the writing. Prices Standard; £375 plus VAT Enhanced: £650 plus VAT (Travel element may apply: see below) Enhanced plus: £750 plus VAT (Travel element may apply: see below) In some cases we may need to add a small additional element for tutor travel. We will give you a clear price upon enquiry based upon tutor availability. Standard service With the standard service, you send a copy to us by e-mail, with the document formatted using Microsoft Word. If you do not have a version in Word then we send you a template (the Ofsted website allows copying and pasting). If you do not have time to create a version in Word, then send a hard copy and, for a little extra, our office staff will create one for you. The SEF is edited using the Track Changes feature in Microsoft Word. Where changes and rewording are straightforward, then we rewrite sections for you. If not, then we add comments and make suggestions. In addition, you receive a written evaluation based on the quality criteria together with an interpretation of the SEF from an inspector’s perspective. You return the SEF to us for final checks before placing it on the Ofsted website. Enhanced service With the enhanced service the consultant visits the school and works with you to collate and interpret existing evidence and make valid judgements about the school. A detailed analysis of the SEF. The check considers whether the SEF is clear; concise; evaluative; internally consistent; fair and accurate; consistent with the RAISE; complete; fit for purpose. The consultant will work with you to rewrite the SEF during the day. Enhanced Plus We send a consultant to your school to help you collate and interpret existing evidence. The enhanced plus check involves: A one day consultancy visit to help you collate and interpret existing evidence and make valid judgements about the school. A detailed analysis of the SEF. The check considers whether the SEF is clear; concise; evaluative; internally consistent; fair and accurate; consistent with the RAISE; complete; fit for purpose. Assistance with re-writing. With the enhanced plus service the schedule for the day will be guided by discussion between the consultant and the headteacher.
