STEP 6: Seek regular external challenge to provide a fresh perspective.

Below are two illustrations of regular external support. The support we provide is tailored to your school needs.

Term 1: Half-day visit example 1

The consultant works with the SMT to

  • Analyse RAISE online and in-school summative assessment data to establish a credible picture of school performance.
  • Explore the school’s judgements about the quality and effectiveness of its work.
  • Identify pupil outcome issues both academic (attainment and progress) and personal (behaviour and feeling safe).
  • Compare evidence with school improvement priorities.
  • Carry out a learning-walk with members of the senior team to validate the judgements and the priorities (visit three classrooms, to check academic progress indicators, accuracy of teacher assessment, the pupils’ work and their engagement in learning).
  • Review evidence and discuss findings with SMT.
  • Review school judgements in light of classroom evidence and confirm core improvement priorities.
  • Provide feedback and a brief written summary of key findings.
